About

Cindie with Loki, Sasha and Fiona

My name is Cindie, and I am an avid hiker and explorer.  I am often accompanied by one or more Australian Shepherds (Loki, Fiona and Sasha), as well as friends and family. For as long as I can remember, my husband and I have prioritized experiences over belongings. Because of that traveling and experiencing new places near and far has always been a part of our lifestyle.  Neither of us enjoy big or crowded cities, but we are happy to try out a new hiking or Jeep trail, or even do some scuba diving so we can experience the natural world around us.

In 2019 I retired from a corporate Information Technology (IT) Career and now work part time as a content creator.  I hope that the adventures we take with our Australian Shepherds inspire you to explore someplace new in this beautiful world we live in.

loki

Lovable Loki is our special boy.  Everyone who meets him instantly loves him and we get so many comments about his eyebrow.  Loki is a blue merle Australian Shepherd who despite all of his health issues is a truly happy boy, eager to pose for pictures and loves to get out and explore with us.

Regarding his health, Loki was born deaf, but knows our special sign language so well that most people who meet him do not realize he is deaf.  He also has hip dysplasia with osteoarthritis (both hips) which causes him pain.  In the fall of 2021, he had a full hip replacement on his left side, and now has titanium parts.  While I would like to say this was a magical fix, it has been a long recovery process and he still has some issues with pain.  And if all of that was not enough, Loki also has Ulcerative Colitis/Irritable Bowel Disease (IBD).  The poor boy has flare ups whenever he gets stressed, and unfortunately there is no cure.  We simply have to manage the symptoms and try our best to manage the stress triggers.

Fiona

Feisty Fiona is the youngest of our pack.  There are so many acronyms to describe this happy girl who truly knows how to enjoy life and loves to go everywhere we take her.  Fiona is a red merle Australian Shepherd, with mesmerizing blue eyes. Fiona is our most adventurous dog, she loves water, catching frisbees, and has never met a boulder she doesn’t want to climb.  Fortunately she is equally happy snuggling when it is time to rest. She loves to be outside, except when it is dark.  Darkness, it seems, is a bit scary to her.

Sasha

Sweet Sasha actually belongs to my daughter.  But since she lives nearby, Sasha often joins us for our local adventures.  Sasha is a black tri Australian Shepherd from the same litter as our Loki.  She is truly a gentle soul and is queen of the head tilt which helps her get extra treats. Sasha is slow to warm up to strangers, but once she accepts you, she will share all the love she has to give.
